Kelemen Hunor on Valea Uzului inter-ethnic incident: An act of vandalism, we will complain to international bodies

Chairman of the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR) Kelemen Hunor said on Friday that he will take all the legal steps with international bodies from the European Union to all of Romania's partners in connection with the incidents at the Valea Uzului military cemetery, adding that UDMR representatives will document their complaint with pictures and video recordings so that the world may see "how a majority behaves with a minority at a very sensitive moment."

Romanian ambassador to Hungary claims to have suggested rescheduling his call

The Romanian Ambassador in Budapest has not refused reporting to the Hungarian Foreign Ministry, but suggested that the meeting be held on Monday, according to Romania's Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE).

"With regard to the invitation of the Romanian ambassador in Budapest at the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, we would like to inform that the meeting was not rejected by the Romanian side, which suggested that it take place on Monday," according to MAE.

Angry Romanians Break into Úzvölgye WW1 Memorial Site, Attack Peaceful Hungarian Protesters

Angry Romanian nationalists broke into a Hungarian WW1 memorial site in Úzvölgye, Romania. First, they were battling the Romanian Gendarmerie, then started abusing the peacefully protesting ethnic Hungarians with flagpoles. Later they broke through the cemetery gate to the stone cross monument and the site. The Hungarian government has submitted a letter of protest, and the Romanian ambassador to Hungary was summoned for a meeting in the foreign ministry, which the Ambassador refused. Instead, the Romanian Foreign Minister asked his Hungarian counterpart to send a “clear message to the Hungarian community to avoid confrontation and escalation of tensions.”
