Romania is no stranger to interethnic conflicts: just consider the March 1990 events between Hungarians and Romanians that led to the deaths of five people (two Romanians and three Hungarians), and close to 300 injured people. Following a series of events backed by documents of questionable legality, orchestrated by the city mayor of Dărmănești and the people backing him, on June 6 the military graveyard in Úz Valley became the scene of the most serious inter-ethnic conflict of the past decade.
